Born in the Caribbean.
Built with purpose.
A tribute to heritage, craft, and the people who shaped Caribbean rum culture across generations.
The Name Carries Weight
Rumbaclaat was founded in 2022 by Darnell Vassa.
The idea was simple. Take rum seriously — the way the Caribbean takes it seriously — but make it for the bottle on the bar in London, Manchester, Birmingham. Not a tourist souvenir. Not a sweet supermarket blend. A premium rum, built like a premium whisky, with the same care for ageing and balance.
We start with pot-still rums from three islands. Jamaica brings depth and fruit. Trinidad brings smoothness. Barbados brings structure. All three are aged in American oak for at least three years before we blend them.
The blend is bottled in Nottingham. Every bottle is the same recipe. Every bottle is 40% ABV. Every bottle is 70cl.
From three islands, one bottle
Jamaica is where rum is loudest. Pot stills, long fermentation, big flavours. Banana, clove, a little smoke. Our Jamaican rum gives Rumbaclaat its character — the part you notice on the first sip.
Trinidad is where rum is most balanced. Column stills bring a cleaner spirit, with vanilla and gentle oak from the barrels. This is the rum that makes Rumbaclaat drinkable neat, not just in a cocktail.
Barbados is where rum is most structured. The oldest rum-making island in the world, and the most precise. Barbados brings the dry oak finish that holds the blend together.
Three years in American oak rounds the edges. The blend is then rested for a final month before bottling — not for marketing, for the spirit. Rum, like whisky, needs time to settle into itself.
Rated 92 of 100
Rumbaclaat was reviewed by International Drinks Specialists, one of the most respected independent tasting panels in the spirits industry. They scored it 92 of 100. Anything above 90 is a “highly recommended” rating. We don’t put it on every bottle. We just keep working to earn it again.
